About the Organization Established June 15, 1971, Valley Community Services Board is a publicly funded organization where citizens of Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta and Highland Counties can receive Behavioral Health, Substance Use and Developmental Services services. Valley Community Services Board serves as the single point of entry into publicly funded mental health, developmental, and substance use disorder services for these localities.

Valley CSB is a person-centered organization, tailoring treatment to each individual. We value competency and compassion in every service we provide. Description

Valley Community Services Board is seeking a passionate and driven employee to fulfill the role of Coalition Support Staff. Funding for this position is guaranteed through September 30, 2025 . This position will work to support a substance misuse prevention/mental health promotion focused Coalition. Additionally, this position will work closely with youth-serving agencies to develop a youth coalition. The incumbent is expected to facilitate positive community and peer relations based on courtesy, compassion, and respect.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with mental health and substance misuse principals and evidence-based approaches to address these issues.
  • Experience in working effectively with youth in structured programs.
  • Demonstrates effective group facilitation skills, with both youth and adult audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively participates in Coalition meetings and workgroups; provides administrative support where needed.
  • Works with community partners to build coalition capacity and develop a youth coalition.
  • Participates in coalition action planning process and ensures implementation of selected activities.
  • Facilitates completion of a coalition readiness assessment.
  • Reports time and efforts in Performance Based Prevention System database.
