Statement of Duties: Performs technical engineering work to develop practical skills in support of academic theory to provide sufficient competence to qualify for registration as a professional engineer under KRS 322; and performs other duties as required. (Engineering decisions by positions of this job title must be reviewed and approved by a Licensed Professional Engineer.) Performs technical engineering tasks, prepares & reviews engineering design project calculations for highway structures in accordance with Association of State Highway Transportation Official AASHTO LRFD (Load and Resistance Factor Design) Bridge Design Specifications. Details designs using Microstation and other office tools. Learns under direct supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer. Reviews and analyze data, plan details and shop drawings to ensure accuracy, adherence to design calculations, code, and constructability. Maintain and prepare records and reports including the following: calculation folders, documentation of code adherence, and cost estimates. Relates and gathers information regarding designs by communicating to highway designers, attending project meetings, and using email and phone. Maintains, develops, and checks structural design software or tools using spreadsheets, Mathcad, or other formats. Performs other duties as assigned Calloway & Associates, Inc. Civil Engineer degree, preferably civil engineering Must have passed the Fundamentals Exam (F/E) Experience and/or interest in structural design (bridges) Structural design of culverts, retaining walls, and bridges in accordance with KYTC (state) requirements and AASHTO LRFD (federal) Bridge Design Specifications Detailing structures using microstation Perform designs using Mathcad, MDX, open bridge, pca column, and various other programs All work will be performed under supervision of a professional engineer.   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Compensation Rate of pay $28-29 per hour and benefits.   Position Structural Design Engineer I   Number of Openings 1   Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt   Open Date 11/30/2023   Location Calloway & Associates, Inc. - Frankfort, KY   EOE Statement We are an equal employment opportunity employer.
