Accounting Manager 

About the Organization Founded in 1996 by parents who sought the very best treatment available to deliver opportunities to children and adolescents living with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Minnesota Autism Center (MAC) provides therapeutic services for children ages 18 months to 21 years who have ASD.



MAC's services are center-based and in-home, and include speech and occupational therapy, assessment and diagnosis services, and individual and family therapy. At any given time, MAC serves approximately 370-400 clients throughout Minnesota at 17 centers located in Eagan, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, Fridley, Vadnais Heights, Minnetonka, Woodbury, Duluth, Virginia, Mankato, Rochester, Red Wing, New Ulm, Medford, Hutchinson and Cambridge.

Position Summary:

MAC is seeking a dynamic and highly organized Accounting Manager to plan and direct the accounting activities of the department. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and efficient professional capable of handling a wide range of financial tasks. This role is crucial to ensuring the smooth operation of the Finance department and the overall success of MAC's mission.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, payroll, and budget preparation.

  • Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations.

  • Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.

 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.

  • Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.

  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.

  • Assists external accountant with annual Form 990 and Form 5500 filings

  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.

  • Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.

  • Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.

  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Position Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficient in accounting software

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration or a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience required.

  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
