Zonar Systems, a leading technology firm in Seattle, is on the lookout for qualified candidates to fill the role of IT Security Engineer. We've designed this versatile role for a proactive and dynamic professional who has a deep understanding of the Security Engineering role and can adeptly navigate its complexities. This position will have responsibilities pertaining to all aspects of security design and operations for both Zonar’s business systems and our customer facing SaaS products.

As the Information Security Engineer, you will provide technical leadership in the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of security across the entire technology stack. You will work collaboratively across all aspects of Zonar including business departments, product engineering, and corporate technology.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Architect, design, implement, support, and evaluate security-focused tools and services.
  • Develop and interpret security policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend new and emerging security products and technologies.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain Zonar security infrastructure including Anti-virus, email filtering and protection, content control systems, internet access control, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs), Network Detection and Response (NDR), and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPSs).
  • Develop and lead incident handling procedures and operations.
  • Interpret information security policies, standards, and other requirements as they relate to specific internal systems and assist with the implementation of these and other information security requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training materials for general security awareness and specific security technologies to Zonar employees.
  • Provide hands-on information security collaboration to teams of technical specialists working on the integration of shared, centralized and/or networked systems.
  • Monitor security advisories from vendors, government agencies, universities, professional associations, and other sources, recommending and implementing threat remediation where necessary.
  • Redesign and reengineer Zonar's internal information handling processes where necessary, to ensure information is adequately protected from threats such as unauthorized disclosure/use, inappropriate modification, premature deletion, or unavailability.
  • Familiarity with the implementation of security frameworks such as ISO27000 and FedRamp is a plus.
  • Serve as a participating member of Zonar’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), participating in security incident response efforts with your knowledge of common security exploits, vulnerabilities, and countermeasures.
  • Develop technical documentation describing the deployment, configuration, and management of shared, networked, and multi-user information security systems.
  • Regularly attend conferences, professional association meetings, and technical symposia to remain aware of the latest information security technological developments.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM

  • 4+ years of related systems/security engineering experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Security, or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
  • Security Engineering certifications such as CISSP, CEH, OSCP, Comptia Sec+, Net+ considered a plus.
  • Experience with the Cisco Endpoint Protection and Darktrace suite of products is considered a plus.
  • Experience with SIEM and logging platforms such as Datadog a plus.
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture and web services security.
  • Experience with the application of threat modeling or other risk identification techniques.
  • Experience with scripting (e.g. python, ruby, bash, and PowerShell).
  • Experience in C, C++ and/or Java a plus.
  • Computer forensic skills are desirable.
  • Knowledge of SIEM logging and monitoring tools like Splunk, Datadog, and Darktrace is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Network and Host Security Assessment tools.
  • Ability to research, analyze and resolve complex problems with minimal supervision and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Prior experience developing and implementing security policy and/or standards desirable.
  • Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, MacOS, and Linux).
  • Knowledge of cloud-based architectures including those of Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking.

Salary: Minimum to Midpoint of Range $86,800 - $124,000+
