Specific Job Detail

Programs Services Assistant Responsibilities • Completes documentation according to goals and objectives • Attends service planning meetings in the absence of the Program Service Coordinator and addresses and documents problems/goals/progress according to goals and objectives • Provides input on progress/participation of residents to Program Services Coordinator • Documents resident participation; Distributes information as appropriate • Assists in maintaining file documenting successful programs. • Assists in planning and conducting the scheduled therapeutic programming/activities • Utilizing Resident Lifestyle Biographies, engages residents in meaningful programming that meets their needs and preferences • Assists in maintaining a posted monthly Programming/Main Events calendar which is inviting and easy to read by residents and families • Encourages involvement of residents and family members (where appropriate) in programming • Orients and trains Resident Caregivers and other staff as appropriate to provide/assist with programming. Assists in involving staff in programming as appropriate. • Assists in orienting staff to residents as appropriate • Assists in the appropriate decorating of the building for holidays, seasons, and special events emphasizing displays which enhance residents' orientation to time and place • Assists in arranging transportation for events planned outside the building • Assists in planning and carrying out regular family social events • Covers weekend/evening programming on a rotating schedule with other programming staff • Will work flexible hours (weekends, evenings, and holidays) to accommodate special events and holidays • Informs Program Service Coordinator of needed supplies and equipment • Ensures programming areas are maintained in an organized and orderly manner.

Description

ProMedica Senior Care, formerly HCR ManorCare, provides a range of services, including skilled nursing care, assisted living, post-acute medical and rehabilitation care, hospice care, home health care and rehabilitation therapy.

The Activity Assistant will provide daily activity programs for residents and assist the Program Services Coordinator in providing a full range of program services. This position requires tact, sensitivity and professionalism due to constant interaction with residents and families to guarantee their satisfaction. Assist in and deliver program services.

Educational Requirements High School Diploma or GED preferred.  
Position Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge and experience with residents having dementia and appropriate therapeutic/behavioral interventions. Must be able to work as a part of a team. Must successfully complete the required Alzheimer's training.
