OVERVIEW

This position is devoted to implementing a national program that encourages, supports, and equips local church members in taking actions focused on advancing climate justice at the federal level of the United States Government. In 2024, a central part of this campaign will be to conduct a voting pledge card campaign that utilizes local church volunteers to collect pledge cards and organize get-out-the-vote phonebanks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the lead organizer for the 2024 Vote for Climate Hope campaign.
  • Lead the organizing of the Vote for Climate Hope Art Contest for children and youth in UCC churches across the country.
  • Lead development of a voter pledge card with winning art on the front.
  • Develop and carry out voter pledge card collection with church volunteers and interns located in communities across the country.
  • Organize phonebanks to contact pledged voters.
  • Plan and organize a post-election event that targets one or more members of congress.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable education and experience;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple and complex projects, set priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
  • Respect for collaborative decision-making and community planning;
  • Self-motivation, dependability, flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact effectively and sensitively with persons from diverse backgrounds;
  • Interest in faith-based climate justice policy advocacy
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed.

 

Additional Information:

  • This is a Cleveland-based fellowship. The fellow may work a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days in the office.
  • Part-time: 20-hours a week 
  • Two year duration with the possibility of continuing
