Our pay is very competitive and benefits vary for seasonal or year-round staff. All our staff enjoy the fulfillment of working with a great team in a beautiful location, but those who enjoy golf have the opportunity to play and practice on our world-class course. We offer subsidized housing in our on-property dormitory or in shared off-site residential houses, an employee meal program, uniform, staff golf clinics, and discounts in our golf shop. In addition, we offer a 401K plan to returning employees who meet eligibility requirements. Traditional full benefit packages are available for full-time, year-round staff.

Description

Position Title: Server

Reports To: Food & Beverage Manager

Department: Food & Beverage

Employment Dates: Temporary; Dates Range mid-May through mid-October

Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the F&B Manager, Servers are non-exempt seasonal positions responsible for providing members and their guests with the highest quality dining experience. Performs all work in accordance with essential functions and responsibilities as described below and in the spirit of the Club's mission and vision.

Responsibilities:

Duties shall include but not be limited to:

  • With a welcoming and professional demeanour, timely and accurately takes and fulfils orders and provides an exceptional dining service for members and their guests, anticipating their wants and needs.
  • Stays familiar with, and accurately describes menu items and their preparation. Ensures all items served are correct and meet NGC quality standards.
  • Learns and remembers members' names and preferences.
  • Communicates orders effectively to the kitchen and bar. Runs food and clears tables.
  • Attends pre-service meetings and communicates questions, comments and concerns to other staff members to improve the service and experience of the membership.
  • Works cooperatively with all other food and beverage staff. Assists other wait-staff and management as needed.
  • Communicates specials and upcoming events to members. Maximizes sales within the dining areas using up-selling techniques.
  • Performs opening and closing shift side work and weekly cleaning. Ensures table setting and presentation is to NGC standards. Helps maintain and organize dining and storage areas.
  • Addresses members' concerns immediately and to their satisfaction. Communicates any problems and potential issues to management.
  • Processes sales through the Point of Sale system. Completes transactions and closing paperwork accurately and timely. Ensures chit charges are accurate and settled to the correct account
  • Observes food serve safe practices and all general Club safety protocols.
  • Participates in required trainings and meetings
  • Performs other tasks and duties as required.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Appreciation for great food, wine and an affinity for serving
  • Knowledge of the order of service and understanding of five-star hospitality requirements.
  • Work cooperatively with others in a team environment
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Welcoming and energized personality

Experience/Education:

  • High school degree or equivalent; or in pursuit
  • Prior server and/or wait staff required
  • Prior club experience preferred
  • TIPs certified

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Work tasks are performed indoors and outdoors and involve physical strength and endurance. Must be able to work in varying temperatures and inclement weather.
  • Position requires walking and standing for long periods of time. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuverer between functions occurring simultaneously.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Requires communicating effectively with members, guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Requires occasional exposure to tobacco smoke.

Projected Work Schedule: The Server position may either be part-time or full-time depending on business levels. Full-time schedules must be available to work a minimum six day work week that may exceed that of 40 hours per week. Weekend and evening hours required. Any request or anticipated absence from the agreed schedule requires prior approval from the F&B Manager.
