About the Organization Her Justice is a nonprofit organization that advocates for and with women as they seek autonomy and safety through our civil justice system. We recruit and mentor volunteer lawyers to provide free legal help in the areas of immigration, family, and matrimonial law to address individual and systemic legal barriers.

100% of our clients are women living in poverty in the five boroughs of New York City. In FY2024, 92% of our clients were women of color, 85% were survivors of intimate partner violence, 70% were mothers, and 49% speak a primary language other than English.

Since 1993, we've provided lifechanging free legal help to over 45,000 women and children and we've pursued policies that have bettered the experiences and outcomes for hundreds of thousands more. Her Justice is committed to creating a more fair and functional civil justice system for women in New York City, so they can build safer, stronger, freer futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.  
Description

Her Justice is a nonprofit organization that stands with women living in poverty in New York City by recruiting and mentoring volunteer lawyers to provide free legal help to address individual and systemic legal barriers.

Her Justice seeks a part-time Office Administrator. The two key areas of responsibility will be supporting the management of the physical operations of the office space and handling the confidential mail management process. The Office Administrator will also provide administrative support to the Operations and Finance team and assist with special projects as needed.

Note: This role is for 20 hours per week in the Her Justice Office. The hourly rate for this role is $29.00-32.00/hour.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support the Office Operations Manager to ensure the smooth operations of our facility

  • Manage reception area, process clients, notify staff of visitors, and support Office Operations Manager with building security protocols

  • Support client registration with building, ensuring compliance with building policy

  • Purchase and maintain office and kitchen supplies

  • Support Office Operations Manager with vendor appointment coordination

  • Handle offsite document management system

2. Manage the incoming and outgoing mail processes, ensuring they are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Triage incoming mail for legal/confidential, development, and General

  • Sort, scan, and share with the appropriate staff members

  • Log, scan, and distribute checks to Development & Finance teams

  • Handle incoming and outgoing packages including providing support to Development and Operations team with packages for equipment and event materials

3. Answer the main phone line and ensure proper of routing of calls

4. Support HR with staff onboarding, offboarding, and employee gatherings

5. Provide general administrative support Director of Finance & Operations or Operations team including support with team/large meeting logistics and development of Operations process documentation

6. Assist with special projects as needed
