The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Reporting to the Associate Director of Facilities, the Set-up Services Lead will oversee the work of the Set-up Services team and ensure that furniture and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and ready for use meeting the high standards of the museum. The Lead will oversee the preparation, set-up, break-down, and staff assigned to numerous events throughout the year.

This position is represented by a union.

Shift/Schedule:

We are currently hiring swing shifts; precise work times are to be determined.

You Will:

  • Oversee the work of the Set-up Services team during the evening shift in support of all events related to set-up and break-down.
  • Plan, schedule, organize, coordinate, inspect, and evaluate the work of the set-up services team.
  • Coordinate set up and break-down of tables, chairs, and linens for various meetings, programs, events, and other activities.
  • Provide training to staff in the proper and efficient performance of set-up services duties according to the training program implemented by the museum.
  • Inspect and evaluate the condition of events-related equipment, tables, and chairs to ensure that they are cleaned, properly maintained, and in good working condition.
  • Undertake comprehensive and ongoing training for the set-up services team.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner in conformance with the museum's safety programs.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and a positive and respectful attitude with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrators, and visitors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned including supporting the custodial, maintenance, and grounds teams.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion, or a combination of education and experience that would provide the required equivalent qualifications.
  • 2+ years of experience in set-up services and or custodial trade in a lead/supervisor capacity preferred.
  • CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and procedures, especially with moving and transporting heavy and awkward shape furniture and equipment.
  • Principles and practices of supervision and training.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of Cal-OSHA and OSHA occupational safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, late nights, holidays, some overtime, and as assigned to meet varying event and operating schedules.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work under adverse situations and conditions, e.g., dirty, noisy, etc.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and heights.
  • Ability to repeatedly move, push, pull, and transport up to 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop/squat for extended periods of time.

Salary:

The expected hourly rate for this role is $26.00. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
