POSITION SUMMARY: Applications are invited for a tenure-track assistant/associate professor position within the Department of Philosophy, beginning in Fall 2024. Successful candidates will have a terminal degree (PhD preferred) in Philosophy or a closely related field. AOS: philosophy of science. AOC: artificial intelligence, value theory, and/or the history of philosophy (Western, Indigenous, and/or non-Western).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach undergraduate courses in multiple modalities (on-site, online, hybrid) in philosophy, as well as potentially contribute to general education and other service courses.
- Supervise student research.
- Teach and/or oversee coursework in the philosophy of science (required area of specialization, AOS), with areas of competency (AOC) to include artificial intelligence, value theory, and/or the history of philosophy (Western, Indigenous, and/or non-Western). Normal teaching load is three courses per semester.
- Support the mission of Moravian University.
- Produce peer-reviewed scholarship, research, and/or creative endeavors.
- Participate in professional and/or community organizations and societies.
- Contribute to the institution's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community.
- Actively participate in service to the University through academic advising, committee membership, and/or mentorship of student clubs and organizations.
