Description

SUMMARY

Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipes, and other physical components of industrial machinery and equipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow all ISO 14001/IATF 16949 Procedures and Work Instructions relevant to your work area.

Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to diagnose malfunctions.

Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.

Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.

Make general building repairs.

Assist in moving plant equipment.

Disassemble, assemble, and erect repaired equipment or property.

Operate air compressor and air dryers.

Perform maintenance and lubrication work in production departments.

Assist and learn welding brazing, acetylene cutting, and plasma cutting, use of trash compactor, power tools, electric and manual hoists, threaders, micrometers, forklifts, and scissor lifts.

Assist and learn metal forming, bending, and expanding.

Measure, cut, and fit pipe and tubing, as well as change motors, lights, and alarm systems.

Perform minor woodworking jobs.

Perform the tasks of an Electrician with assistance.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. Six months to one year of related experience and/or training. Must be “mechanically inclined.”

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be certified to operate a forklift.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
