OVERVIEW OF DUTIES:
The Community Support Supervisor (CSS) shall work on a Team and be responsible to oversee homes and services supporting persons with disabilities and for supervising staff. The CSS is accountable to the Team Coordinator.
The Team will be responsible for the oversight of homes and services supporting adults with disabilities. Some homes and services will be licensed and some will not. Some homes will support adults with the primary diagnosis of mental illness and some homes will support adults with the primary diagnosis of intellectual disabilities. The CSS is responsible to assure that quality supports and services are provided to people residing in the homes or who are receiving OHI services to which he/she has been assigned, and that the philosophy of OHI is adhered to at all times. The CSS shall understand that people requiring support who have one disability, such as mental illness, can also have another disability such as a cognitive disability, a substance abuse disorder, or a medical condition. These conditions are called co-occurring disorders. The CSS shall promote OHI's welcoming and effective provision of supports to people with co-occurring disorders.
The CSS is responsible to assure that there is consistency in the operation of homes and services; that the communication amongst team members is effective; that duplication of efforts are eliminated; bureaucracy is reduced; that the small agency feeling is maintained; that a holistic approach is provided to people supported; and best practices are used with people supported.
The CSS is responsible for supervising staff. Supervising staff includes conducting performance reviews, providing support, supervision, observation, recognition and/or mentoring at least monthly with each employee supervised, facilitating employee performance improvement, and staff retention. He/she is ultimately responsible for the staffing of each home and service. He/she is responsible to facilitate staff meetings.
The CSS is responsible to assure quality programmatic, medical supports and services are provided to people supported at all times. He/she is responsible to participate in the development of plans and protocols to support people to live more productively in their communities. He/she is responsible to participate in the development data keeping tools and to monitor the person's progress.
The CSS must assure the safe and effective handling of funds. The CSS is responsible to assure the accurate administration of medications. The CSS is responsible to assure that the rights of people supported are protected, and to assure crisis prevention and intervention is implemented as needed.
The CSS shall be responsible to assure all homes and services are licensed and/or accredited as necessary, meet fire safety and life safety codes, are clean and well organized, and if overseeing homes, assure those homes fit well into their communities. He/she shall provide on-call services for the Team.
