JOB TITLE: Director of Sales and Brand Development – Spirits STATUS: Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Sales REPORT TO: VP of Sales

 

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for the execution of the spirit portfolio and its priorities in both channels by leveraging all the sales and marketing tools available at distributor and account level. Manage team of trade development sales personnel to focus on the execution of key initiatives and programs. Primary interface with spirits suppliers to plan, execute and analyze the business in the market to drive growth and development of the company spirit portfolio. Ensure prioritization of the spirits portfolio through effective planning, communication, and execution of brand strategies through the sales execution teams.

 

Core Job Functions:

 

  • Manage portfolio of spirits suppliers and respective brands to promote portfolio of brands and work with supplier partners to develop programs to drive brand performance

 

  • Manage and develop trade development personnel team to effectively execute the development of spirits brands in the market

 

  • Develop Gameplan programs, business driver goals and sales tools to drive market performance and brand development. Work with sales execution team to set goals and ensure execution of the programs

 

  • Implement and ensure the execution of the on and off premise brand standards and objectives at the key account level to include distribution, securing drink menus and drink lists. Accomplish this through personal accountability and effectively communicating missions and expectations with the sales teams

 

  • Recruit new brands into the portfolio that will maximize sales growth opportunities and compete in the spirits market

 

  • Provide analytical support to sales managers and suppliers

 

  • Work cross functionally with CT pricing manager to maximize gross profit margin opportunities of the spirits portfolio

 

  • Plan and execute sales weekly team meetings to assist, direct, and educate them to become more effective in the trade.

 

  • Provide positive exposure for Company through community involvement, quality service, and excellent support to ultimately increase product sales and market share.

 

  • Deliver annual performance appraisals to direct reports inclusive of employee development plans and initiatives.

 

  • Complete evaluations of sales team using monthly meetings; work with analysis, and incentive, distribution, and sales results.

 

  • Balance Company objectives with supplier and retailer requests.

 

  • Establish sales forecasts of brands to assist in product planning and company budgeting

 

  • Keep informed of competitive activity in the market and communicate to management through solution based process

 

  • Manage time and schedule in order to execute work-withs, working the trade and managing key strategic accounts across the on-premise 3-4 days per week

 

  • Establish “Key” account list for executional excellence

 

  • Management of marketing budgets in accordance with the business plan

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  • The Trade Development manager is routinely responsible for performing duties beyond the normal workday i.e. route coverage and emergency deliveries.

 

  • The Trade Development manager is accountable for brand depletion information, budget updates, and monthly analysis of sales incentives and account level programming.

 

  • Also responsible for maintaining a weekly personal work calendar, introducing new products to the sales force, achieving monthly goals and quotas, and maintaining positive relationships with key accounts.

     

     

     

     

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • A four-year undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Previous Sales Management experience required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Strong customer orientation
  • Strong computer skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Indirectly responsible for individual salesperson performance on assigned brands

 

MENTAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:

Close mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures, performing accounting work, using a computer terminal, AND/OR extensive reading.

 

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time, ability to move about to access various objects, ability to operate office machinery such as a computer, ability to communicate effectively. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Computer, printer, fax machine, photocopier and telephone.
