Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Position Summary

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for performing tactical sourcing activities, including purchasing, long term planning and negotiating of materials. The sourcing specialist reports to the Director of procurement and interacts with multiple Operations teams as well as cross functionally with other corporate team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day management and development for frozen, ambient, refrigerated, and dry ingredients.
  • Responsible for contracting annual needs for frozen, ambient, refrigerated, and dry ingredients.
  • Develop the execution of the company’s sourcing strategy using industry experience, leadership, management, strategic and tactical planning, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Function as a key partner with internal partners: Planning, Production, R&D, Finance, Logistics, etc.
  • Implement sourcing strategies to drive cost savings and improved supplier performance- including RFP, RFQ processes.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to identify, explain and minimize variances to standards and/or budgets. Forecast future variances and budgets as necessary.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure uninterrupted supply, and to contribute new ideas, reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Cultivate new sources of ingredients and work with R&D/suppliers/QA to get them approved.
  • Monitor purchase order progress, confirming receipt and communicating any discrepancies.
  • Process Invoices, ensuring three-way invoice match, request credits for damaged product.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Procurement.
  • Adhere to SOP, SSOP, GMP, and HACCP guidelines when in the plant.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.

 

Non-Essential Job Duties

Position Requirements

Job Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field is a plus. 

Experience: Preferred experience in procurement; 3-5 years

Knowledge: EXCEL – be very comfortable within Microsoft Excel and have working knowledge of VLOOKUP functions, pivot tables, and “if” statements. Necessary to use & troubleshoot spreadsheets as they are currently designed. High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications required; experience in data gathering; including the ability to translate large amounts of data into actionable insights preferred.

Other Skills: Strong, professional, and effective verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines.

Other Abilities: Demonstrated ability to develop, communicate, and execute detailed work plans that support operational improvement and ability to build relationships with and influence business partners. Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast- paced and deadline-oriented environment.

i.e. Regular contact with Corporate cross-functional partners, manufacturing Team Members, and the Leadership Team.   Occasional contact with vendors.

Working and Environmental Conditions

Full-time exempt status. Expected to work evenings and occasional weekends based on business necessities.
