About the Organization Easterseals Louisiana (ESL) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to change the way the world defines and views disabilities by making profound, positive differences in people's lives everyday. Established in 1951, our organization supports over 8,600 individuals (whom we refer to as Participants) with a variety of disabilities. A leading provider of disability services, ESL has physical locations in 8 regions of Louisiana and our array of programs include; support coordination (case management) for children, adults and elderly participants, a wide range of behavioral health and housing services, early intervention services for infants and toddlers, and a school setting called The Chartwell Center in New Orleans.

Job Description:

As a Support Coordinator Specialist, you will be a leader and mentor to Support Coordinators and you will have many opportunities to utilize your skills and knowledge to coach and develop new and existing Support Coordinators. The goals of the Support Coordinator Specialist are to be a subject matter expert in case management, provide consistent and accurate training, resources to the staff, in addition to becoming a backup supervisor as needed.

  • Assist with meeting requirements of open caseloads in any region needed
  • Provide support as a back-up supervisor in the event a supervisor is out of the office for an extended period or the position is open
  • Complete intakes as assigned
  • Assist with emergency phone calls before and after any emergency event in any region
  • Training of new hires as assigned
  • To conduct or assist families with technology as needed for telehealth visits
  • Any other assigned job duties as determined by the Project Manager
 
Position Requirements

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible
  • Knowledge of all programs served in the region assigned or be willing to learn
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to train/coach using multiple techniques based on the learning style of those being trained
  • Excellent at time management and task completion
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Proficient with computer skills, particularly Google products.
  • Dedicated to the mission of Easterseals Louisiana
  • Ability to use technology required

Qualifications (please take note, we have no flexibility on degrees accepted.

These are conditions of our contractor):

  • a Bachelor's Degree in Social Services or Human Services related field OR a degree with at least 16 hours in ONE area of Human Services (i.e. Sociology, Psychology, Education, Counseling, Social Services, Family & Participant Science, Rehabilitation Services, or equivalent.)
  • Minimum of 3+ years of SC and/or supervisor experience, prefer 1 year of experience with Easterseals Louisiana
  • Must be or able to become ISR certified within 3 months of position change and any other certifications as needed
  • Proven record of meeting all funder requirements.
  • Able to work in the office as needed
