Journeyman Operations Research Analyst (Risk Identification and Security Countermeasure/RISC)

The Journeyman Operations Research Analyst (Risk Identification and Security Countermeasure/RISC) will support a security-focused cross-functional capability that searches and consolidates information from multiple sources to identify potential risks associated with AFRL’s intellectual property, programs, and personnel.

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:

  • Support science and technology (S&T) managers and engineers while empowering AFRL leaders to make informed risk-management decisions.
  • Assist in mitigating the adversary’s impact on the technological advantage.
  • Inform and educate the AFRL workforce on these potential risks.
  • Function as a senior-level analyst in the field of risk analysis to support AFRL and the RISC mission.
  • Perform security reviews and produce written and oral reports identifying risk and briefing to AFRL, USAF, and DoD entities.
  • Assist with proposal development, if necessary.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.


  • Five (5) years’ related experience desired.
  • Experience with risk management and security policy and guidance, and the structure, organization, roles and missions, and inter-relationships of the national security, IC, DoD, and USAF.
  • Knowledge of the interplay of geographical, political, military, economic, and industrial forces in various regions of the world as well as security-related R&D threat entities, operations, and capabilities that may be directed against USAF, DoD, and other US resources.
  • Knowledge of the full range of security research methods, techniques, and practices and advanced analytical principles, concepts, and methods used to identify and analyze complex multi-source information to produce detailed security capabilities and risk assessments, identify security deficiencies, and advocate for customer requirements.
    • The ability to present the information verbally or orally when such information is requested.


  • AA/AS or BA/BS degree desired.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • May be required to obtain one (1) of the following certifications in the future:
    • Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC)
    • Security Professional Education Development Certification (SPED)
    • Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC)

Other Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customer and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Expert in producing finished security reports and other products that are responsive to the specific needs of customers to include formulating and conducting original research; collating, organizing, and analyzing information; resolving conflicts; and presenting clear and concise findings.
  • Skilled in handling, storing, and disseminating classified data in accordance with established DoD procedures.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate disparate data and render knowledgeable and accurate assessments of the implications of such data; to make decisions, estimates, and recommendations under conditions of urgency and pressure based on mature judgment, experience and recognized professional standing; and to present and argue for a position effectively.

Security Clearance:

  • Top Secret/SCI security clearance required.
    • A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

US Citizenship: This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Sawdey Solution Services to staff it only with U.S. Citizens
