Since 1971, the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
Emergency Services is a 24/7 response for psychiatric crisis assessing for immediate psychiatric intervention and issuance of temporary detention orders (TDO) for individuals in need of mandated treatment in a psychiatric hospital.
The Assistant Manager will assist the program manager in managing the diverse and time-sensitive activities of the unit 24 hours per day, 7 days per week ensuring the provision of emergency crisis intervention and code-mandated activities. The Assistant Manager will ensure the responsiveness to clients with problems related to mental illness, developmental disability, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. Also, the Assistant Manager provides assessment and referral/linkage services in response to a variety of mental, emotional, and/or substance use disorder-related disabilities. Assists the program manager in a number of activities necessary for the operation of the unit including- program analysis, assisting budget development and monitoring, analyzing the outcome measures for the department, data collection, adherence to documentation and EHR standards, alignment of activities with the Code of Virginia and with engaging, maintaining and enhancing critical stakeholder partnerships.

Requirements: LPC or LCSW and four (4) years of experience in a psychiatric care setting including counseling and crisis intervention functions. Previous supervisory or management experience is required. Pre-admission screener certification training modules must be successfully completed within 30 days of hire.
