If so, we invite you to join our team at Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) in Hampton or Newport News, Virginia, where we provide comprehensive community-based treatment services to individuals who have been unable to make use of traditional outpatient mental health services.
As a Mental Health Clinician at ACT, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality mental health services to our designated client population, which includes homeless adults with mental illness and those with co-occurring substance abuse disorders. You will be responsible for managing caseload assessments, conducting individual, group, and family therapy sessions, providing short-term crisis intervention services, making referrals, and offering case management support.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' mental health needs
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy based on evidence-based practices
- Offer short-term crisis intervention services to clients in distress
- Make appropriate referrals to support clients' needs, such as psychiatric services, housing assistance, and vocational rehabilitation
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records
- Advocate for clients' rights and provide support in navigating the mental health system
Requirements: Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work and 1-year experience in clinical/hospital psychiatric care setting including substance abuse counseling, crisis intervention, and case management functions.
Must provide proof of registration for supervision toward licensure with the LPC or LCSW Virginia Licensing Board within 90 days of employment or currently licensed as LPC or LCSW with the Virginia Licensing Board. Must be registered with the Board of Counseling to practice as a QMHP-A.
