Since 1971, the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.

Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board partners with both the City of Hampton General District Courts as part of separate dockets. BHDs are non-adversarial approaches by the judicial system, treatment providers, and other stakeholders addressing the needs of individuals with serious mental illness who have become involved in the criminal justice system. Through ongoing support and supervision, the Court and Team assist individuals as they engage in services and address challenges to prevent further penetration within the criminal justice system.

The Behavioral Health Docket is designed to effectively treat and support individuals identified with a Serious Mental Illness (SMI) or Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) who are in need of behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment services. The primary purpose of the Behavioral Health Docket Coordinator is to provide treatment services as well as provide timely assessment, resource linkage, and supportive services for participants with their service-related needs.
