Communications Coordinator 


Job Summary

Aid Public Relations Manager with event coordination, social media organization and general assistance with programming. This position will help build upon important skills and provide knowledge of various facets of social media and the industry within Public Relations and Communications. As part of the program the candidate will have the ability and flexibility to attend events as needed for promotion, photo opportunities and live social media posting. Managing calendars, media lists, documenting media coverage, and tracking social media metrics will increase attention to detail as well as provide the skills for effective data recollection. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in accordance with the Yellowhawk Mission and Vision statements.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. General administrative duties; such as, proof reading, copying, filing, print production, and overall assistance to the Program Manager.
  2. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  3. Ability to attend events as needed for photo opportunities.
  4. Answering phones, responding to emails and inquiries.
  5. Managing multiple calendars and media lists.
  6. Create content and execute monthly newsletter, both in print and online.
  7. Develop and maintain positive relationships with partners, clients, stakeholders, media, and vendors.
  8. Serve as a liaison on quarterly planning meetings.
  9. Maintain a high level of professionalism, both online and in person.
  10. Follow established policies, procedures and guidelines in accordance to Yellowhawk's Mission and Vision.
  11. Ability to multitask and prioritize needs.
  12. Content creation across social media platforms, including tracking metrics and creating reports.
  13. Will work both independently and collaboratively with a variety of departments and programs outside of Public Relations.
  14. Great attention to detail is a must within written communications as well as design work.
  15. Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma / Equivalent with minimum 2 years’ experience managing social media for an organization.
  2. Must have experience with social media platforms (Canva, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
  3. Must demonstrate experience with event organization and promotion.
  4. Strong skills in the following: communication (both oral and written), organization, writing, and time management.
  5. Candidate must have great attention to details and computer competencies with Microsoft Office suite.
  6. Must submit to and pass a reference and criminal background check.
  7. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  8. Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain insurance requirements to operate General Services Administration vehicles.
  9. Must submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  2. Graphic Design (Adobe or Canva).
  3. Social media scheduling applications experience.
