Position Summary

Under the direction of the Plant Managers, the Reaction Supervisor’s main task (including but not limited to) are:

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performs all normal supervisory functions, to include hiring, training, appraisal, counseling, and discipline of direct reports.
  • Manage employee conduct or performance problems in a manner consistent with TCT policies. Work with Human Resources for advice and consultation as necessary.
  • Review and approve timesheets for Reaction personnel. Control costs through effective manpower management.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing tools and equipment.
  • Assigning team members with tasks to be completed each shift.
  • Setting performance metrics for team members and work with team members to ensure all metrics are met.
  • et daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to employees.
  • Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules.
  • Oversee and coach employees.
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment and schedule regular maintenance.
  • Check production output according to specifications.
  • Submit reports on performance and progress.
  • Identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements.
  • Properly resolving problems and troubleshooting issues as they arise without the direction of management.
  • Managing multiple projects as well as staff members.
  • Reporting to the Reaction Plant Manager and meeting with management to review goals and metrics.
  • Maintaining a work environment that meets company, state and federal safety and employment guidelines.
  • Coordinate any tank truck movement with Reaction Planner/Scheduler and prepare for their arrival/departure on the Bulk schedule and Production schedule.
  • Work with Planner/Scheduler to schedule production on Reaction Units to complete customer orders and schedule shipments on Bulk Schedule.
  • Review blend sheets for accuracy before initiation/completion to operator.
  • Review BER information is accurate and complete.
  • Work with Engineers and reaction trainer to ensure operators training is up to date.
  • Must have complete knowledge of all ISO Blending and TCT’s safety rules.
  • Must have thorough understanding of all necessary procedures.
  • Must have complete understanding of the inventory system and be able to order raw materials as needed.
  • Must have complete understanding of the lock-out/tag-out procedures and ensures compliance with these procedures.
  • Ensure that all flush and waste material is handled, stored, and labeled properly.
  • Must have complete understanding of the Boiler and be able to manage steam pressure as needed.
  • Be able to fill in for other Reaction Supervisor during absence.
  • Required to inspect any trailers/railcars prior to loading/offloading if necessary.
  • Other duties as required by Plant Managers.

Responsibilities:

  • Meeting of reaction schedule.
  • Work Nights, Weekends and Rotating Shifts.
  • Delivery of quality product that meets customer expectations.
  • Accuracy and completion of all area documentation.
  • Safety performance of operational area of job and the direct reports in that area.
  • Training/development/performance management of direct reports.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • High School Graduate or GED desired but not required.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years reaction experience.
  • Supervisory experience is a must.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Have knowledge of plant safety rules and ensures 100% compliance by direct reports.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Inventory system.
  • Must have basic computer skills to work with company software such as: word, excel, Microsoft Dynamics, and m-files.
  • Must be respirator trained and certified.
  • Must be forklift certified.
  • Be ready and willing to receive standard training.
  • Must be able to read and interpret an SDS, also know the location of the SDS book.
  • Be able to follow the Hurricane and flood procedures if needed.
  • Must be able to read and process an order in an adequate time period.
  • Knowledge of our quality policy and objectives.
  • Must understand Nitrogen blanketing, purging and drying process.
  • Must understand sampling procedure (railcar, truck and tank).
  • Learn basic product identification.
  • Proper hose section, cleaning and storage.
  • Must understand the dry air system.
  • Must be able to apply steam to railcars, trucks, tanks and pumps in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to accurately gauge any tank, railcar or truck, and be able to interpret the automated gauging system.
  • Must be able to load and/or unload any railcar or truck and covert lbs./gallons to determine load capacity.
  • Must have complete understanding of the filtering system.
  • Must be able to fill any tote, pail or drum ordered from the Production run.
  • Tank, tank truck and tank car transloading.
  • Must be able to follow all procedures when handling “food Grade” products and ensures that direct reports are doing so.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to use their hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
  • The team member frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • The team member is occasionally required to sit.
  • The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift 25 pounds and occasionally move or manipulate drums weighing between 200-400 pounds.
