Responsibilities: Safely fulfill facility requests as assigned by supervisor. Coordinate repairs with supervisor and end users. Maintain and repair train engine, coaches, and track. Perform routine mechanical and preventive maintenance duties and recommends improvements in PM task lists.  Perform scheduled and emergency vehicle maintenance. Diagnose problems, adjusts, repairs, and overhauls engines, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, brakes, hydraulic systems, valves, pumps, electrical problems, and other vehicular systems. Maintain and repair other museum mechanical equipment (i.e. mowers, composting, tractors, generators, bobcat, excavator, etc.) Place orders for parts and supplies. Maintain required computerized and manual records of all repairs. Interact with customers and vendors as needed. Make recommendations for outsourcing repairs of equipment and vehicles.   Perform welding repairs as required. Always demonstrate adherence to Museum safety procedures. Engage with Museum visitors in a positive and helpful way to support an enjoyable and safe guest experience. Prioritize the Museum’s values of inclusion and kindness in all interactions with staff, volunteers, and guests. Assist in other assigned facilities projects and activities.     Actual Pay Rate:$28.50/ hour   Position Requirements Required: High school diploma/GED 10+ years’ work experience as an automotive vehicle mechanic Valid NC driver’s license Knowledge of standard materials, tools, equipment, and skills applicable to general and specific automotive service and repair Brings own mechanics tool set for personal use in repairs. With senior level mechanical skills, can provide expertise in diagnosis and repairs. Can work on assignments requiring significant judgment and initiative. Can understand implications of work and make recommendations for solutions. Can work independently and prioritize daily workload.  Can determine methods and procedures on new assignments. May provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel. Can work and communicate well within the facilities team and interacts well with staff and guests.  May provide specific task instruction and assistance for other team members.
