Description

The Assistant Supervisor, RN will provide direct oversight of all licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, and exercise physiologists at North Suffolk Cardiology. Duties and responsibilities include, and are not limited to ensuring adequate staff assignments to support the day-to-day operation of the nuclear unit, and collaborate with other NSC supervisors on nursing coverage needs. The assistant supervisor, RN will work closely with the NSC technical director to develop guidelines and protocols that promote efficient and high-quality patient care within the nuclear medicine department.

This position will report directly to the Clinical Operations Manager, and will be primarily located at NSC headquarters at 45 Research Way, Suite 105, East Setauket, NY.

  • The Assistant Supervisor, RN will use organizational, clinical, communication and problem solving skills to assist in managing the patient workflow on a daily basis.
  • The Assistant Supervisor, RN will serve as a leader and clinical expert for the delivery of high-quality nursing care and provide direction in developing and maintaining optimal patient care standards in the clinical setting.
  • Obtains medical histories, performs clinical assessments, and reviews test results related to PET, echo, abdominal, and carotid testing.
  • Provides patient education about underlying medical condition.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding therapeutic regimens, promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • Performs nursing care, assists with treatments, therapies, procedures, and administers medications as necessary
  • Coordinates management of patient flow and staffing through continuous assessment of volume/acuity needs, utilizing resources available to assist in provision of appropriate staffing resources.
  • Assists in identifying expected outcomes to provide direction for continuity of care/department operations.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Competence with computerized health records
  • Ability to work with other medical professionals
  • Preference given to those with Cardiac Experience
  • Prefer four ACLS/BLS certification
  • Nuclear stress testing experience preferred.

Physical Demands:

May spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients or objects may involve lifting of up to 50 pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend or twist their body, as well as visual acuity.
