Description

The role of a Production Operations Manager at Stier Supply Company is crucial for driving productivity, safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing and production environment. Here's a breakdown of specific duties and responsibilities for this position:

Overall Shop Management:

Take responsibility for planning and executing all shop functions, including safety, manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and inventory.

Ensure that the plant has the capacity to deliver products on time and in accordance with the field schedule.

Continuous Improvement Leadership:

Coach, mentor, and train team members in the principles and concepts of continuous improvement.

Promote the use of various continuous improvement tools such as Lean, visual management, and statistical process control.

Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives focused on process improvements, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 6S, etc.

Consulting and Advising:

Consult and advise leadership on opportunities for process and performance improvement that will drive growth, enhance customer satisfaction, and increase operational efficiencies.

Training and Standardization:

Support the standardization of training programs and tools across the organization to ensure consistent application of continuous improvement activities.

Maintenance Programs:

Define, develop, and implement maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and efficiency of equipment and facilities.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure that all quality measures are in place and consistently tested to meet standards and maintain product quality.

Team Building and Culture:

Foster a team environment that promotes employee engagement and holds supervisors accountable for supporting all aspects of production.

Lead a cultural shift towards a mindset of "We Make it Happen" and "Bring it On."

Safety Focus:

Prioritize a "safety first" work environment and gain employee buy-in to ensure the well-being of all team members.

KPI Development and Monitoring:

Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for all areas of the plant and continually monitor them for improvement.

Effectively communicate KPI reports and process improvement plans to management, providing regular updates on the overall plant status.

Talent Management:

Continually recruit, evaluate, and develop employees to build the best, most engaged staff possible.

Problem Solving:

Identify issues and problems within the production processes and implement sustainable corrective actions to address them.

This role requires a combination of strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a commitment to driving positive change within the organization. A successful Production Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in optimizing production processes, ensuring product quality, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully facilitate cross-functional projects in a team-based environment
  • Capable of collaborating with multiple teams in the company to resolve problems for the greater good
  • Experience leading organizational change management initiatives
  • Acts as a coach/mentor to develop and motivate their teams
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build strong positive relationships with vendors, customers, field, and DC team members
  • Strong attention to detail and solid analytical skills
  • Show ownership of issues and responsibilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer programs as needed
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
