They need to have a solid understanding of how infertility medication is covered between their medical and pharmacy plan and how using a medical benefit may impact their treatment coverage. They are responsible to enter correct medication information into the EMR. They are responsible to follow up with the patient to ensure the patient has all of the medication they need for their cycle. They serve as a liaison between the patient, practice, insurance company or pharmacy benefit manager, and the pharmacy.   Essential Job Functions: Counsel patients on how best to utilize their insurance and pharmacy benefit Manage patient expectations in regards to what they should reasonable expect to pay out of pocket for medication Create, submit and follow up on all medication authorizations Communicate to the Clinical Cycle Coordinator when patient is financially approved to proceed with treatment.   Category Business Support   Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt   Location Island Fertility - Fertility   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Position Requirements Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Effective Communication and Listening Skills Working knowledge of eIVF and other Software Infertility Medication authorization experience in Physician Practices is preferred Familiar with insurance authorization processes Ability to display compassion towards patients and coworkers Strong problem resolution skills Knowledge of cycle types and treatment plans.   Shift Days   Tags   Salary Range $19-$26 per hour   Position Medication Specialist   Open Date 9/1/2023   This position is currently not accepting applications.
