Senior Product Manager (Not Remote) 

Description

We're looking to add a Senior Product Manager to our Product Management and Marketing Team! In this role, you'll play an impactful role in driving profitable growth for the company. You'll work collaboratively with multi-level stakeholders across functions to develop the strategic product roadmap for new product development, portfolio management, category planning, and product lifecycle managment from inception to adoption in the marketplace.

Note: This is not a remote position. You must be based out of West Michigan.

The Position (Not an all-inclusive list):

  • Know your market and stay informed of industry, market, and customer trends.
  • Manages strategic planning and implementation - leads the development and execution of product line strategies, priorities, and category plans to ensure we're innovative, relevant, and competitive.
  • Creates the roadmap to achieve the strategic plan with emphasis on new product development, product positioning, and developing go-to-market strategies for implementation.
  • Defines and aligns product segmentation with brand positioning and strategy.
  • Develops business proformas for new products, programs, and promotions, including products, displays, and the in-market experience.
  • Develops strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitates product line reviews to evaluate ongoing performance of categories and product lines.
  • Manages product categories to expand market share, increase sales opportunities, drive profitability across channels, and deepen customer relationships with Convivial Brands' products and brands.
  • Establishes product lifecyle metrics and plans appropriate modifications to keep line/mix at desired performance levels.
  • Establishes pricing (and pricing rules) and provides cost/value analysis.
  • Proposes new product conepts, optimization, and rationalization.
  • Collaborates with marketing and sales to create effective plans and drive awareness of our brands.
  • Develops and cultivates relationships with key stakeholders in order to influence decisions, negotiate solutions to complex problems, and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Owns profit and margin for assigned product lines.
  • Works closely with the Director of Product and Marketing on sourcing viable suppliers for effective product development. Develops supply partnership strategies and negotiates with suppliers during the bid process.
  • Creates and executes guardrails for product within the product lifecycle.
  • Contributes to budget recommendations and unique solutions to maximize product performance.
  • Collaborates with key team members in effective tradeshow and positioning, planning, and execution.
  • Optimizes and systemizes the use of the ERP system regarding both supply chain and product functionality and accuracy.
  • Partners with inventory management, sourcing, distribution center operations, and logistics teams to investigate problems and develop solutions to maintain an efficient supply chain.
  • Forecasts maturity of the product to be ahead of the staging process and performs effective and timely line management staging.

 

Required/Desired Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or Supply Chain Management, other related field; or equivalent education and experience. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • At least 5-10 years’ experience in CPG industry, wholesale food industry, and/or retail industry. Experience in social expression products, stationery, or giftware industry is a plus.
  • B2B, D2C experience preferred.
  • A foundation and passion for leading, training, and mentoring others, with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, including prioritization, planning, task delegation and communication of big picture.
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles of Merchandise Planning, Inventory, and Retail Operations.
  • An understanding, and a passion to further learn the creative and product development process.
  • Experienced in strategy development and implementation with financial and global business acumen.
  • Ability to understand market dynamics.
  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams, clearly communicating and establishing priorities, objectives, and deliverables. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, think strategically, and drive market growth.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative.
  • Ability to influence, collaborate, contribute, inspire, and motivate teams.
  • Ability to be agile and resilient.
  • Judgement – analyzes and derives insight from qualitative, quantitative data, and situational circumstances and draws conclusions systematically, brokering creative, alternative, and effective solutions. Possesses managerial courage.
  • Presentation skills – effectively presents information in a manner that is clear, inspiring, and to the point.
  • Proven experience writing and presenting strategic plans, briefs, business case/proformas, and product roadmaps.
  • Champion for customer excellence, and voice of the consumer (customer-focused).
  • Ability to juggle many different priorities and projects at the same time – while self-advocating when there is a need for reprioritization and clarity.
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong team orientation and a willingness to collaborate, while challenging the status quo.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to assimilate business concepts into actions.
  • Extremely strong skills with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Dynamics – NAVISION.
  • Excellent ability to streamline and build processes where few or none exist.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing error free and high-quality content.
  • The ability to juggle deadline-based priorities while still delivering on compelling creative output.
  • Strong organization skills and problem-solving abilities.
