Base Wage $20.06-$21.38 per hour based on education and experience  
Description

Summary

As part of the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program (SWVPP), the Preschool Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of care and education provided to children.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Applies various age appropriate methods used in teaching children.
  • Assures the cleanliness, safety, and appeal of the classroom and materials/equipment.
  • Applies various age appropriate hygiene and sanitation practices for children.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and implements best practices relative to state and agency early learning standards.
  • Supervises and/or provides work direction to classroom assistants including students and volunteers, as needed.
  • Provides home visits, parent nights, family activities, and child conferences when appropriate.
  • Utilizes approved preschool curriculum in accordance with Iowa Department of Education.
  • Utilizes approved research-based or evidence based assessment to provide information on children’s learning and development
  • Provides access to participating child’s preschool records as needed.
  • Completes all mandatory reports required of the teacher.

SALCS operates Skip-a-Long Child Development Services - early care and education centers in Iowa and Illinois, The Home Child Care Network - a network of licensed and license-exempt home child care providers in both the Quad Cities and Peoria areas, Open Door - a crisis assistance program funded by IDHS to help individuals and families in crisis navigate local social services, SAL Child Care Connection - the child care resource and referral program in Peoria, IL, the Child Care Resource and Referral of Midwestern Illinois that serves the Illinois Quad Cities and surrounding counties, and Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships that serve Rock Island, Henry, and Mercer Counties in Illinois.
