Job Title: Business Systems Analyst III

Nature and Scope
Applies knowledge of company policies and standard practices to identify and resolve problems. Analyzes issues and uses judgment to make decisions. Responds to requests for more complex technical support. Written communications are coherent and accurate. Documents the problem, issue, or road block to ensure a timely resolution. Work is typically project oriented, related to systems administration and operations, or involves data analysis and reporting. Actual tasks are defined by employee and receives only general instructions on new work. Uses good judgment, creativity, and technical knowledge to obtain and recommend solutions. Makes self fully available to customers in critical situations and keeps customers up to date on progress of projects and activities. Assists the team in accomplishing its goals beyond his/her assigned work. Provides project and work leadership to others. Works under limited supervision.
Specific Accountabilities

- Ability to effectively communicate, both written and orally, and work with other team members (from business sectors and applications development) to develop system requirements.
- Ability to apply business, systems, data, and organizational expertise in problem analysis and solutions development.
- Ability to gather and convey information to other business systems analyst, IT staff, business clients and senior managers. Conveys credibility and confidence, verifies understanding of issues, and asks intelligent questions to get “the full picture”.
- Respond to requests for user assistance.
- Investigates and resolves systems errors, issues, and problems.
- Uses analytical techniques to break apart complex problems into their component parts. Analyzes relationships among the several parts of a problem or situation to identify several solutions and weighs the value of each. Anticipates obstacles and thinks ahead about next steps.
- Point of contact for core processor issues.
- Identifies opportunities or problems and acts quickly and decisively to respond to the situation. Takes the lead in gathering necessary data to improve unit performance or solve customer problems.
- Applies new technical approaches to best resolve customer problems. Keeps current with new approaches (e.g., via classes, reading, working with experts).
- Execute higher level, more critical, system application administration duties as assigned including security fulfillment, parameter changes, configurations, form changes, good system maintenance, etc. Perform daily IT operational duties as required.
- Ability to query and extract data for reporting or data analysis either for problem investigation or business analysis.
- Assist IT Department staff with various IT projects and act as 2nd level support for the IT Help Desk when needed.
- Document problems and resolutions for future reference as well as documentation of systems procedures.
- Ability to coach and mentor more junior business systems analysts or staff.
