What are we looking for in a Mental Health Worker?

Mental Health Workers provide care, support, and a safe living environment for individuals residing within our 24-hour inpatient and residential facilities. Mental Health Workers follow trauma-informed care practices to support clients in stabilizing symptoms and learning illness management skills with the goal of improving quality of life. This position is supported by a multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, therapists, prescribers, and other direct care staff. The Mental Health Worker position is part-time and on-call, with a varying schedule that may include days, nights, and weekends.

Mental Health Worker duties may include:

  • promoting and engaging in therapeutic activities with clients
  • accompanying clients to appointments, community events, and outings
  • collaborating with the client’s family & natural supports, and with community support and healthcare providers
  • providing coaching and supportive counseling in both group and individual settings
  • completing required documentation that reflects the activities, goals, and progress of each client
  • preparing and serving meals to residents
  • monitoring medication self-administration, symptoms & medication response
  • maintaining a safe and clean environment, which may vary from general housekeeping to deep cleaning depending on assigned facility

About our Residential Programs:

  • Bridges is a sixteen bed facility that serves adults who require inpatient treatment due to an emotional crisis or change in function due to a mental illness. The program provides evaluation, stabilization, and brief treatment for men and women age 18 and older. An integrated, multidisciplinary team of professionals provides individualized treatment and coordinates a comprehensive discharge plan that emphasizes community resources and family support.
  • Two Rivers Landing is a state of the art, short-term residential place of healing for youth aged 11-17 who are in crisis. The program provides crisis stabilization, evaluation, and treatment for up to sixteen youth (male or female) and utilizes an established trauma-informed, evidence-based model of care. An integrated team of professionals provides individualized care and a comprehensive discharge plan that emphasizes community resources and family support.
  • Stepping Stone is a twelve bed facility that serves adult residents with chronic and/or acute mental illness who need the structure and support of a 24-hour transitional group living situation. Residents are actively involved in the responsibilities of home management including cooking, cleaning, and decision making about house programs and problems. Stepping Stone residents are also taught skills that enable them to seek volunteer or paid positions in the community.
  • Gleed Orchard Manor is a twenty-nine bed facility that serves adult residents with medical and/or psychiatric conditions that have caused impairments in activities of daily living, communication, cognitive abilities, and/or social functioning. Goals of the program include maintaining control over psychiatric symptoms and adaptive behaviors; increasing personal care, social skills, and practical living skills; and creating a safe environment for the recovery process.
  • Pathways is a 16-bed residential treatment facility for adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. At this facility, residents receive individualized and integrated co-occurring disorder treatment from an interdisciplinary team with an emphasis on stabilization and recovery. Staffed 24 hours a day, Pathways provides intensive treatment to individuals who need a higher level of care than can be provided in outpatient co-occurring disorder treatment.
  • The Competency Restoration Program is a twenty-four bed secure residential treatment program that serves male adults who have, due to a mental illness, been deemed by the court to be unable to aid and assist in court proceedings regarding current pending criminal charges. The goal of this program is to offer residents treatment and educational opportunities in order to prepare them to be able to fully aid and assist in their own defense. Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team with an emphasis on collaboration, and the program uses trauma-informed evidence-based practices that have been proven effective for education and treatment.
  • The Detox/Crisis Triage Center is a sixteen bed adult facility that monitors clients who are experiencing alcohol and/or drug intoxication and/or withdrawals. In addition, there are crisis stabilization beds to provide 24 hour monitoring and supervision of client’s behaviors and medications in a safe environment to prevent further client de-compensation and inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.
 
Position Requirements

Education/Experience: Associate's degree and one year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Credentials: Eligible for Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration

Other Credentials Required: First Aid/CPR Certification, Food Handler's Permit, Driver's License, Vehicle Liability Insurance
