Ohio Christian University is searching for a Head Track and Cross Country Coach to provide leadership to our male and female student athletes individually and as a team. Months per Year: 12
Hours per Week: 20 average
Salary: $20,000 stipend per year
POSITION SUMMARY
The Track and Cross Country Coach will report to the Athletic Director and will oversee all aspects of operating a successful intercollegiate program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Any one position may not include all of the listed duties, nor do all of the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions within this classification)
Student-Athlete Skill Instruction; Team and Game Preparation:
Teach all basic and advanced skills required in the sport of XC/Track during individual skill sessions, team practices, as well as the strength and conditioning sessions.
Develop and implement of sound and safe practice plans for both individual skill sessions and team practices that successfully prepare the student-athletes with the fundamentals in the sport of XC/Track, as well as the strength and conditioning sessions.
Develop a comprehensive and strategic game plan for each scheduled contest throughout the season.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Organize and coordinate a wide variety of administrative tasks which include, but not limited to: team travel, meet scheduling, budget preparation, office administration, academics (retention, graduation, GPA's, academic coaching, study tables), compliance, facility usage, public relations, marketing, style guide, fundraising, community engagement, fall-winter-spring summer camps and other daily operations for operating a successful intercollegiate Cross Country & Track program.
NAIA/NCCAA Rules Compliance:
Be responsible for knowledge of, and adherence to all NAIA/NCCAA rules and regulations pertaining to but not limited to recruiting, eligibility, and general operation of the program.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
According to Ohio Christian University employment policy, all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the OCU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education, Training, and Experience:
o Bachelor's Degree required (Master's preferred)
o 2-4 years of playing/coaching at the college level preferred
o Successfully pass all NAIA/NCCAA and University requirements for employment
Skills and Abilities:
o Strong public speaking skills that connect with 18-22-year old athletes
o Strong administrative and organizational skills
o Strong communication skills both verbal and written
o Ability to network with other coaches to continue growth professionally
o Ability to successfully recruit a full roster each season (mission fit student athletes)
