Description

Brief Description
The HSE Advisor will perform intermediate activities in the administration of health, safety, and environmental programs. Responsibilities may include administering programs, analyzing data, conducting training, conducting inspections or audits, and responding to various questions. This position will report directly to the HSE Manager.

Residing in the Midland, TX vicinity or within an approximate 50 mile radius is strongly preferred, as relocation is not currently available for this position.

Position Requirements

Essential Functions

• Promote total job safety, and a proactive safety culture, while performing regular field safety audits or inspections at project sites.
• Undertake the opportunity to mentor others with regards to the AKITA's HSE Safety Management Programs, attend safety meetings, pre-job meetings and safety training;
• Assist Rig Site Management in the implementation of AKITA's Health, Safety and Environmental programs and processes;
• Deliver health, safety and environmental information sessions on Company, Industry or Statutory matters as required to ensure that HSE remains a key focus at the operational level;
• Respond to incidents
• Assist operations team in conducting incident investigation, with the intention of determining the Root Cause and determining corrective action items to prevent re-occurrence;
• Promote the awareness of hazard identification, elimination and control;
• Apply specialized health, safety, and environmental principles and practices;
• Ensure compliance with department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations;
• Remain current and knowledgeable of OSHA and other Health & Safety regulations .
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree preferred in Environmental Studies, Health and Safety, or a related field or equivalent education and work experience.
• 3 years or more of related experience with the oil and gas industry preferred
• Certification in IADC Rig Pass, H2S, First Aid, Fall Protection and Confined Space Entry;
• Field experience with a proven excellent safety record;
• Possess a working knowledge of drilling equipment;
• Hold a valid driver's license and ability to meet company vehicle driving requirements;
• Demonstrated knowledge in US safety regulations and requirements.
• Team player with the ability to work and communicate with all levels of management to form a cross functional team.
• PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
