The programs at New Settlement are supported by local, state and federal government agencies, as well as foundations, corporations, organizations and individuals.   Description JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the YouthBuild Program Director, the Youth Advisor provides support to participants from beginning of program through their entire stay. Youth Advisor will offered case management and job placement assistance. Monday – Friday 9am-5pm. Job Duties include but not limited to: Conducting intake interviews with all participants and counseling youth, both one-to-one and in groups. Holding the youth accountable to realize the goals they articulate, through regular meetings with participants, using a task-oriented support strategy. Conducting ongoing outreach to neighborhood youth who would benefit from participating. Facilitating weekly peer-group meetings of the core participants. Designing and leading workshop series on life-skills for the core group of participants. Following up with other youth participants who attend open workshop series and with organizational partners providing resources and services. Conducting job readiness workshops and hosting job fairs Providing support and a safety net for the core group participants, as appropriate. Advocating on participants’ behalf, as needed. Strengthening our network of partnerships with expert resource organizations and institutions which can provide needed services in health care, education, job training and placement, housing and criminal justice. Maintaining program and participant records. Participating in staff-development trainings provided through our networks and partnerships, and representing the program in settings with partners and colleagues, as appropriate. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: B.A. preferred and 2-3 years of experience working with older teens and young adults in a non-mandated program in a community-based setting. Counseling and case-management experience. Commitment to create a welcoming program environment and culture where youth are held accountable to meet high expectations and supported in doing so through positive, educational interventions and structured, holistic programming.
