The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, and collections. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Assistant Manager of Facilities will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of functions including maintenance, custodial service, ground services, vendor contracts, and set-up services. The ideal candidate must possess a combination of relevant experience, is highly customer service oriented, and has a strong ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

We are currently hiring for the swing shift position. Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, late nights, and holidays.

You Will:

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, inspect, supervise, and evaluate the work of maintenance, custodial, grounds, and maintenance staff and vendors in the upkeep of the facility.
  • Manage vehicle and equipment maintenance program.
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling program.
  • Be responsible for the coordination and supervision of all event set-up/support related functions.
  • Support the management team with development and implementation of standard operating procedures for the facility.
  • Assist with recruiting, selecting, hiring, and training of Facilities team members.
  • Undertake maintenance, grounds, set-up services and custodial tasks when needed.

 

 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • 4+ years of general maintenance or facility-related experience in a supervisory position in a museum or similar institution.
  • Experience and comfort with the safe operation of scissor lifts, custodial equipment, forklifts, power tools, and custodial equipment.
  • Basic work experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Experience or strong familiarity with all or some the following areas: basic carpentry, HVAC functionality, irrigation, janitorial, and/or plumbing is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage staff and provide hands-on instruction and training in a variety of maintenance, grounds, set-up services and custodial tasks.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions provided in English.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate effectively with staff, visitors, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to follow through on commitments, projects, and demonstrate a can-do attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Knowledge of safety work practices and codes including Cal-OSHA requirements.
  • Knowledge of materials, tools, equipment, and methods used in the cleaning and maintenance of a public facility.
  • Ability to logically analyze and solve problems in a timely manner to reduce critical impact to the facility.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule in support of special events and in case of emergency.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office suite and electronic workorder and inventory management system.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move and remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours at a time.
  • Ability to reach.
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders.
  • Ability to work outside including during periods of hot and cold weather and in inclement weather conditions.
  • Ability to move and transport up to 50 pounds for brief periods.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required, including any booster vaccinations as applicable.

 

 

 

The expected base salary range for this role is $62,000 to $64,480. The actual base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
