Maintenance Technician - General 

Position Details Full Time Maintenance Technician  
Shift Hours 7:00am-3:30pm  
Number of Bi-weekly Hours 80 hours per biweekly pay  
Days of the week Sunday through Thursday  
Weekends/Holidays Occasional Weekends and On Call

The Maintenance Technician will support the Frederick Living Mission of caring for and enriching the lives of older adults with the following essential responsibilities:

  • Respond to all emergencies acting as first responder to Residential Living units and communicates with emergency personnel, as necessary.
  • Assist in keeping the building in good repair including painting, plastering, etc., as directed by supervisor.
  • Repair toilets, spigots, drains, electrical wiring, etc., as needed.
  • Assist with general maintenance outside the building, landscaping, maintenance of patios and lawn furniture and clearing driveway and entrances of ice and snow.
  • Assist carpenter, HVAC, electrical and other skilled personnel, as requested.
  • Keep all places of employment, passageways, storerooms and service rooms clean and orderly and in sanitary condition. Keep floors clean and dry, keep working places and passageways free of protruding nails, splinters, holes or loose boards, etc.
  • Set up and tear down functions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with the equipment necessary for completing tasks.
  • Dispose of trash, as needed.
  • Abide by the organization’s code of conduct in the performance of their duties.
  • Assist Director and Property Manager, as requested, and perform other related duties, as required.
  • Light housekeeping, as assigned.
  • Cut and maintain keys.
  • Drive trucks, plows and other equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to climb, crawl, crouch, stoop, maintain balance, stand, push, pull and kneel to adequately perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to grasp, finger, reach and perform repetitive movement actions to adequately perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to lift weight up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to feel, hear, see, smell and speak to adequately perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to work in inside and outside conditions, with temperatures that may be below 32 degrees for more than one hour at a time or above 100 degrees for more than one hour at a time.
  • Ability to occasionally tolerate constant vibrating motion to adequately preform the job.

Along with an excellent work ethic, successful candidates will have:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Previous experience in maintenance is desired.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and motor vehicle record must meet standards set forth by Frederick Living’s insurance carrier.
