Description

Job Summary:

Act as a central point of communication among providers, patients and other team members of our health facility. Perform secretarial duties utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology and all office policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Train new employees
  • Handling patient related issues
  • Overseeing the front desk.
  • Assist in staffing schedules.
  • Overseeing the patient monitor, appointment scheduling, referrals and authorizations.
  • Implement policies and procedure with staff at all locations.
  • Overseeing the scanning, faxes and incoming reports.
  • Confirm future appointments.
  • Screen all calls for urgency and handle all calls with confidence, compassion and efficiency.
  • Schedule appointments for all providers.
  • Make appointments for new and existing patients.
  • Collect and verify patient demographic information.
  • Take and record patient messages accurately.
  • Review and maintain provider’s schedules to ensure productivity and appointments are scheduled appropriately.
  • Monitor status of insurance authorizations and referrals
  • Monitor insurance eligibility

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Superior level of secretarial and organizational skills.
  • Team player and the ability to multi-task.
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal skills and proper phone etiquette demonstrating compassion and patience.
  • 2 years medical reception experience is required.

 

In accordance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) order that all hospitals and nursing homes “continuously require all covered personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.”  Upon receipt of a conditional job offer, candidates who are not already vaccinated must obtain the first dose of the vaccine within three (3) calendar days of job offer and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with the vaccine protocol. The order allows for limited medical exemptions with reasonable accommodations, consistent with applicable law.
