Share Email Opening Apply Now Title Custodial Associate   Description Department: Facilities Reports to: Assistant Manager, Facilities Job Type: Full-time – Regular                                                                                  Job Classification: Hourly (Non-exempt)                           Workplace Location: Los Angeles – Academy Museum, Fairbanks   Summary/Objective: The Custodial Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment within our facilities.  This position requires attention to detail and the ability to perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks.  This position requires working at both the Academy Museum and the Margaret Herrick Library.   Shift Schedule: Evening Shift (2:00pm - 10:30pm) and (2:30pm – 11:00pm)   This position is represented by a union.   Essential Functions of the Job: Perform day-to-day custodial functions as assigned. Clean windows, furnishings, fixtures, hallways, stairways, elevators, escalators, restrooms, and ledges daily as instructed. Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc. Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting. Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc. Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions. Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored and stock at all times. Ensure that appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up prior to performing such duties. Keep supervisor informed of supply needs and any potential hazards. Assist with special events set-up and breakdowns and perform other duties as assigned.   Required Competencies:  A high school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion. A valid driver’s license in good standing. 2+ years’ experience in facilities operations or custodial services required. Knowledge of modern cleaning methods for floors, carpets, furniture, fixtures, and restrooms. Knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and procedures. Knowledge of appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies when cleaning and handling bio-hard materials and/or chemicals. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and a positive and respectful attitude with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrators, customers, and visitors.  Ability to attend and participate in continuing educational programs. Ability to work some weekends and holidays when needed. A commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.   Physical Requirements: Comfort working on ladders, lifts, and heights.  Ability to repeatedly move, push, pull, and transport up to 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop/squat for extended periods of time. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and processes desired.   Required Vaccination: Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required, including any booster vaccinations as applicable. Exception: Medical and religious accommodations approved by the Office of People & Culture.    The expected salary for this role is $20.00 per hour. The actual base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law.
