The Graduate Assistant/Assistant Coach will report directly to the Head Coach and will assist in overseeing all aspects of operating a successful intercollegiate athletic program.
Under the leadership of the Head Coach, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Recruiting and evaluation of prospective student-athletes
- Assist the Head Coach in identifying prospective student-athletes that fit Ohio Christian University's vision and mission, and who can succeed academically, spiritually, and athletically at the University
- Assist the Head Coach in updating OCU Athletics reporting/recruiting information and compliance report on a weekly basis
- Assist the Head Coach in maintaining a database of prospects including updated records of contacts
- Assist the Head Coach in successfully recruiting identified student-athletes
Team and game preparation
- Assist the Head Coach in teaching all basic and advanced skills in the sport during individual skill sessions, team practices, and strength/conditioning sessions
- Assist the Head Coach in developing and implementing a sound and safe practice plan that will successfully prepare student-athletes with the fundamentals of the sport
- Assist the Head Coach in developing a comprehensive and strategic game plan for each scheduled contest throughout the season. This includes but is not limited to the evaluation of upcoming opponents, preparing scouting reports and adjusting the game plan during contests.
Administrative responsibilities
- Assist in organizing and coordinating a wide variety of administrative tasks which include but are not limited to team travel, contest scheduling, budget preparation, and administrative, facility usage, public relations, marketing, fundraising, community service, facility maintenance and other daily operations for the program
General athletic responsibilities (additional responsibilities within OCU Athletic Department are required during non-traditional season)
- Assist in game/event management for sport teams including but not limited to game manager and event setup/breakdown
- Assist in transportation for sport teams
- Assist in Academic Center oversight
NAIA/NCCAA rules compliance
- Responsible for knowledge of, and adherence to, NAIA/NCCAA rules and regulations pertaining to recruiting, eligibility, awards, and general operation of the intercollegiate athletic program
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Head Coach/Athletic Director

Required Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2-4 years of playing/coaching at the collegiate level
- Attain/Maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certification
Skill and ability
- Strong public speaking skills that connect with college students and student-athletes
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to network with other coaches to continue growth professionally
- Aid in successfully recruiting a full roster each season (mission fit student-athletes)
Preferred Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification (current)
Skill and ability
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience with marketing and social media
