Base Wage $19.57 - $21.53 per hour based on education and/or experience  
Description

The Community Outreach Coordinator builds community awareness of the child care resource and referral (CCR&R) services, creates and implements communications plans, gathers and analyzes data in identifying service barriers and gaps, provides child care referrals to parents and supports the provider community through access of resources and funding for professional development and training.

  • Cultivate relationships and enlarge the inclusion of community contacts to develop and advance public presence of the CCR&R services. Participate in provider and community events.

  • Proactively manage, increase engagement and provide relevant content across all digital platforms to connect parents, providers and community members with our services.

  • Conduct intakes of parents/guardians/families seeking child care education and referrals.

Qualifications - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Requests for reasonable accommodation as required under applicable law will be considered.

Education and Experience – Required: Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields (ECE, Child Development, Child Psychology/Behavioral Sciences, Family Consumer Sciences, Social Work, Elementary Education, Child Welfare, Family Services) PLUS at least two (2) years of experience in child development. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in a related field as listed above AND at least two (2) years of marketing, outreach and/or communications work experience.

SALCS operates Skip-a-Long Child Development Services - early care and education centers in Iowa and Illinois, The Home Child Care Network - a network of licensed and license-exempt home child care providers in both the Quad Cities and Peoria areas, Open Door - a crisis assistance program funded by IDHS to help individuals and families in crisis navigate local social services, SAL Child Care Connection - the child care resource and referral program in Peoria, IL, the Child Care Resource and Referral of Midwestern Illinois that serves the Illinois Quad Cities and surrounding counties, and Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships that serve Rock Island, Henry, and Mercer Counties in Illinois.
