Pay Range: $15.60 to $21.00 per hour based on experience and credentials

Shifts: Monday-Friday: 3:00pm-7:00pm.

What You Will Be Doing

Primary job responsibility is to implement behavioral health and educational services using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis with individuals diagnosed with autism, related mental health disorders and/or intellectual disabilities with a 2:4 ratio. Services may be provided in the center and after-school program. Receive supervision and training from behavioral health supervisors through direct observation and team meetings.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Deliver instruction and follow procedures learned from initial and ongoing training sessions and based on feedback given by supervisors.
  • Implement skills acquisition as provided during initial training and from ongoing training and feedback from supervisors.
  • Implement behavioral health treatment by providing intensive services based on the individual’s behavioral health needs including, but not limited to: skills development, problem-solving, conflict resolution, emotions/behavior management, developing positive coping mechanisms, and managing symptoms to enhance vocations/school opportunities and/or independent living.
  • Facilitate the further development of daily living skills, including but not limited to facilitating personal hygiene skills, meal preparation, independent toileting, and care of personal property.
  • Implement crisis interventions as needed and when approved.
  • Collect and analyze data and records of service accurately following Boundless procedures.
  • Organize, and prepare teaching and treatment materials and maintain a clean instructional area.
  • Assist in maintaining files for compliance in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal standards; report unusual incidents and communicate unusual medical situations as required.
  • Perform first aid as trained and designated.
  • Complete treatment and education review for designated individuals as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in all treatment and educational team meetings, program meetings, and Staff Development Days.
  • Seek, receive, and apply feedback appropriately and professionally, and work towards goals developed with supervisors.
  • Communicate by both hearing and speaking in a professional manner with coworkers, outside professionals, and parents, and use professional language when describing the individual and/or behaviors.
  • Maintain professionalism and boundaries when working with the individual and the individual’s family.
  • Always maintain HIPAA requirements, including while in the community with or without the individual present.
  • Maintain all HIPAA, CARF, Ohio Department of Behavioral Health, Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, I Am Boundless Policy & Procedures, and any other regulatory body requirements as related to all services provided.
  • Dress appropriately and arrive on time for work.
  • Participate in fundraising activities through the distribution of materials and information.
  • Responsible for reading and following the employee handbook and all Boundless policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for completing and following all training assigned.
  • Ability to complete training and apply knowledge to work with individuals served.
  • Ability to perform emergency medical procedures when necessary.
  • Requirement to lift/bend/push/pull/stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl regularly when implementing crisis interventions.
  • Ability to accurately document required therapy data.
  • Operate and conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to hear and speak spoken language in communication with individuals served, other staff, family members of individuals, and members of the general public.
  • Ability to accept and implement feedback and constructive criticism in teaching, and overall job operations.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to communicate in English, including both spoken and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, plus 3 years or more years of experience in the behavioral health, human services, or mental health field. 
  • College Degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • One to two (1-2) years of experience working directly with children and families.
  • Experience working with people with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities.
  • Experience working with people with behavioral health conditions.

Required Licensure and Certification

  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR - adult, child, and infant (training will be provided if not already certified).
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; proof of auto insurance.
  • No more than 5 points on license.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to maintain physical exertion for multiple events across a shift that could last up to 45 minutes per episode. 
  • Ability to maintain a kneeling and/or crouching position for multiple events across a shift that could last up to 45 minutes per episode. 
  • Ability to stand for the majority of the shift.
  • Ability to respond quickly to sounds. 
  • Ability to see and quickly respond to dangerous situations. 
  • Ability to wear personal protective and safety gear correctly for the majority of the shift. 
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time across the shift along with the ability to walk swiftly or run after consumers on a shift.
  • Ability to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time. 
  • Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport individuals as needed.
  • Ability to utilize quick body movements when working with individuals with challenging behavior. 
  • Ability to remain awake for the entire assigned shift.
