SUMMARY: 

The Associate County Engineer assists County Engineer with managing and planning County Engineering projects and permitting responsibilities.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Plans and manages activities of  Engineering staff through appropriate delegation, managerial support, and work supervision; establishes priorities, and reviews work products in coordination with the County Engineer.
  • Provides advanced engineering services for Teton County, including capital project planning, design, specifications, cost estimates, permit applications and project management.
  • Supervises civil engineering projects through all phases, from project assignment to completion, according to project schedules, timelines, and budgets, ensuring project design and accompanying drawings and specifications meet the intended goals for the project.
  • Reviews, approves, and prepares construction plans, specifications, technical documents, procurement documents and contract agreements for capital projects in accordance with applicable County, State, and Federal guidelines.  Negotiates, reviews, prepares Owner–Contractor and Owner-Consultant agreements.
  •  Reviews Teton County Permit applications for physical development pertaining to engineering-related technical compliance with Teton County Land Development Regulations, and other applicable Teton County regulations and resolutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Six years of civil engineering project experience, including lead or supervisory experience.
  • Required Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer by the Wyoming Board of Professional Engineers & Professional Land Surveyors
  • Wyoming/Idaho driver's license

Required Skills in:

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other staff.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Civil engineering methods and practices for project planning and design for private and public sector infrastructure projects including site development work, transportation, water resources, wastewater, stormwater, and grading.
  • Reading and evaluating architectural and engineering plans and specifications.
  • Operating a computer utilizing standard and specialized software including CAD and GIS.
  • Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment, and at construction sites, as needed.

 

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Six years of civil engineering project experience, including lead or supervisory experience.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

Registration as a Professional Engineer by the Wyoming Board of Professional Engineers & Professional Land Surveyors

Wyoming/Idaho driver's license
