Description

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist whose core responsibility includes processing bi-weekly payroll for 300+ employees, duties to include:

  • Processing of salaried and hourly bi-weekly payrolls in a highly efficient manner with great attention to detail. This includes managing and auditing data in the timekeeping system prior to exporting to payroll
  • Conduct thorough review and audits of payroll calculations, deductions, and withholdings to ensure compliance with legal requirements and internal policies
  • Process and audit benefits and payroll reconciliations and monthly journal entries
  • Maintain the payroll & timekeeping system; and analyze system related issues with the support of our vendor (UKG); overseeing system upgrades and improvements
  • Responsible for a variety of month end, quarter end, and year end tasks to include general ledger entries, providing various reports to managers and Accounting staff, and reconcilement of regulatory tax filings which are processed by our third party tax filing vendor
  • Partner with Accounting dept team members as it relates to reports and data needed for annual audits and budget process
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity in payroll processes.
  • Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and core competencies
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience processing payroll within an HRIS system (we are currently utilizing Ascentis payroll and Nova Timekeeping – experience helpful, not required)
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices and compliance
  • Strong MS Excel experience including the use of vlookups, pivot tables
  • Strong analytical mindset and exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Degree and/or CPP preferred, not required
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information
  • Strong people skills and the ability to maintain a professional relationship with employees, managers and team members
  • Ability to work with a variety of cultures, backgrounds and perspectives

Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time
