Description

Buckeye is one of nine neighborhoods nationwide chosen by 5/3 Bank to implement its Empowering Black Futures Program (EBF). The goal of this program is to ensure that these neighborhoods receive capital, expertise, and tools to create equitable growth and economic mobility through its Empowering Black Futures program. This includes a $2 million grant for vacant home rehabilitation to sale to low-income families and home repairs for low-income households. In Cleveland, these efforts are led by Cleveland Neighborhood Progress as the grantee, BBC as the engagement partner and grassroots connector, and CHN Housing Partners as the facilitator of home repairs. Fifth Third selected Enterprise Community Partners to lead this program. Enterprise will leverage its national program and technical assistance platform, along with 40 years of experience. The goals of this program are to create more equitable, connected systems, improve upward mobility among Black residents by Increasing Black homeownership rates and reducing displacement of Black residents, build an inclusive civic infrastructure, promote prosperous small Black-owned businesses, and develop healthy, built environments. The Summer Associate will build BBC's capacity to address these goals by focusing on vacant houses to acquire, rehab and sell to low-income individuals and to provide home repairs to them.
