Therapist - Community Based Therapy Youth

Wyandot BHN is seeking a dedicated Community Based therapy Therapist to join our youth therapy team. The Community Based therapy Therapist will provide admission evaluations and provide short term therapeutic services.  Will assist in other PACES functions as needed.  This position reports directly to the Community Based Therapy manager.

Accountabilities:

Will provide outreach to families referred for PACES services and complete admission evaluations in office or other community locations.

  • Will provide specialized therapeutic interventions and assessments as appropriate to client need and training and experience.
  • Will maintain caseload of clients/consumers in need of short-term treatment.
  • Will maintain appropriate clinical documentation on all clients served.
  • Works with other staff to provide increased support to a client at risk of hospitalization or out of home placement.
  • Identifies strengths and needs of client/consumer and families and acts to involve them in planning for desired services.
  • Familiarizes client/consumer with community resources for educational, cultural, recreational and social activities.
  • Works with internal and external service providers including school personnel to secure adequate services, resource acquisition and resource coordination as needed.
  • Performs other duties as deemed appropriate by immediate supervisor or designate.
  • Complies with all relevant Center policies and procedures.
  • Provides liaison duties to community agencies as assigned, including but not limited to local school districts.
  • Coordinates care as appropriate and maintain an excellent working relationship with community partners, including but not limited to local school districts.
  • Participate in advocacy, outreach, and training opportunities within the communities that PACES serves.

  • Additional Position-Specific Roles and Responsibilities:
    • Community Based – Will provide therapy primarily within the community, in schools, in homes, or other community locations. Will have in-office space for conducting sessions as needed.

    • Juvenile Justice Liaison – Will provide therapy primarily within the Juvenile Services Building. Will have in-office space for conducting sessions as needed. Collaborates with Division 15 Court staff and UG SUD . Will participate in scheduled juvenile court hearings relating to clients, provide monthly progress updates for court staff. Will document client attendance, participation, progress, changes in treatment plan, etc., to the supervising officer or his/her designee at designated intervals in a designated format. Creates monthly reports for clients involved in the juvenile justice system. Will provide professional guidance and resources to justice system workers during youth and young adult case planning meetings as needed.

    • Transitional Age Youth – Will provide services primarily within the community with in-office space as needed. Conducts therapy/skills groups as part of treatment. Works with primary age group 16-19 providing treatment and evaluation for SMI/SPMI. Collaborates with Wyandot Center Young Adult staff on transition to Wyandot Center as appropriate.

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in the human services field, with emphasis in social work, psychology, rehabilitation or related field.  Must have current licensure by the KS Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board of LMSW, LSCSW, LMFT, LCMFT, LPC, LCPC, LMLP, or LCP. Temporary or provisional licensure accepted at the time of interview. Proof of licensure or application status may be requested.
  • Eligible for Medicaid reimbursement. 
  • Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences.
  • Communicates directly and effectively in a cooperative manner with colleagues and representatives of other agencies.
  • Familiar with mental health theory and practice.
  • Experience treating trauma and sexual abuse with children.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and as needed after hours coverage.
  • Must be able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Clearance through Kansas Child Abuse/Neglect Registry, Adult Abuse Registry and criminal background check through Validity Screening Solutions and Medicaid/Medicare reimbursable inquires.
