JOB SUMMARY:

SMBC is one of the largest global banks, operating across 30+ countries, including the United States, we have charted to build a new digital bank in US for SMBC, we intend to disrupt the digital banking landscape with “banking the way it should be” and an innovative collection of banking products and services. We are on a mission to build the best digital banking experiences for our customers, and we are looking for a VP, Technology Planning Manager – who is a creative problem solver and able to bounce fluidly between minute details while staying attuned to the macro vision of the department. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and maintain effective management and reporting routines that allow the Technology Leadership to focus on top priorities and strategy.
  • Assist the Technology Leadership in creating department goals and operationalizing the business plan.
  • Collaborate with technology teams and other partners to build the OKR dashboards and measure results.
  • Partner with the PMO to manage and oversee the portfolio financials, status, and key watchouts.
  • Manage workforce planning which includes talent calibration, location strategy, staffing ratios. Oversee all aspects of headcount and staffing matters.
  • Assist with the planning, preparation and facilitation of CIO and Tech Leadership management routines (e.g., Strategy Offsite, Staff meetings, Executive Leadership Team Meetings, Town Halls).
  • Manage the governance and production of the CIO’s executive-level dashboard, which includes key performance metrics that provide transparency into the effectiveness of the portfolio and strategic messaging aligned with corporate goals.
  • Prepare executive level reports and presentations, including the Management Committee and Executive Steering Committees.
  • Prepare influential executive level presentations to facilitate fact-based business cases, recommendations, and program updates.
  • Determine and influence the right drivers of investments needed, and process disciplines to accelerate achievement of business objectives.
  • Ensures alignment of IT initiatives with the target state.
  • Builds strong partnership with engineering to ensure proper alignment of skills with technology direction.
  • Establishes the metrics required to measure team performance and recommends the go-forward strategy to address performance gaps.
  • Optimizes talent strategy to ensure proper mix of resources and attracts and recruits best talent.
  • Continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

  • 10+ year of experience in financial services and/or technology services industry.
  • 5+ years of previous experience in IT planning, portfolio management, or similar role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and organizational skills.
  • Thorough attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple projects.
  • Prepare influential executive level presentations to facilitate fact-based business cases, recommendations, and program updates.
  • Expert presentation skills, both in terms of creating clear messaging and professional presentation and delivery.
  • Strong intrapersonal and team building skills.
  • Accessible and approachable.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills; a proven “closer”.
  • Highly collaborative with experience in leading and influencing teams and individuals across lines of business, functional areas, and various levels of an organization; Courage to hold peers and others not directly in the reporting line accountable.
