Schedule: Monday - Friday 8a - 4:30p with some nights and weekends
Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) provides comprehensive community based treatment services to persons with severe and persistent mental illness in Hampton or Newport News who have been unable to make use of traditional outpatient mental health services.
The ACT LPN assists the staff psychiatrist in the prescription, administration and monitoring of client medications; performs routine physical and mental health nursing assessments, orders and dispenses prescribed medications and other medically based treatment services and provides supportive counseling. May monitor the medical needs of clients and/or administers methadone to clients. Prepares related documents and records. Incumbent may administer drug testing, T.B. testing and other medical screening.

Requirements: Graduate of an accredited LPN school of nursing with one year of experience in the administration of medication or in a substance abuse treatment, psychiatric setting or long term care facility including the dispensing of narcotic medication. Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
