Prepare cost estimates for engineering construction projects. Determine the price of service and negotiate contracts. Estimator is responsible for attaining the various personal sales goals established by the Sales Director.
Tasks
1. Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
2. Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
3. Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
4. Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
5. Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
6. Prepare time, quantity and cost budgets for each project.
7. Assess cost effectiveness of material, labor, equipment and subcontracts throughout the course of the project as required.
8. Participate in pre-job, interim and post-mortem job meetings.
9. Conduct special studies/value engineering to compile standard hour and related cost data to effect cost reduction.
10. Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost- effective to perform sections of the work in-house or subcontract.
11. Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
12. Establish and maintain bidding process, and participate in contract negotiations.

Education and Experience 1. Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college and five years experience, or a minimum ten years experience. 2. Must have working knowledge of SWPPP, Heavy Equipment, and Confined Space. |
