Wyandot BHN is seeking a dedicated Bilingual Medical Records Specialist to join our medical records team. The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for gathering, processing, and maintaining client records according to policy and HIPAA standards. They ensure client records are maintained in a manner compliant with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of the mental healthcare system.


Purpose:
The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for gathering, processing, and maintaining client records according to policy and HIPAA standards. They ensure client records are maintained in a manner compliant with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the mental healthcare system.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for accurate and detailed data entry into the electronic health record.
  • Verifies and updates client’s demographic information to include name changes, address, and phone number.
  • Scans and files medical records, correspondence, and other documentation in clinical charts and the electronic health record.
  • Respond to requests for medical records or client identification to be read from the record.
  • Extracts and processes medical releases of information, subpoenas, & audits that pertain to the HIPAA Privacy Laws for information from clients' medical records for release to appropriate facility, agency, attorney, Insurance Company, physician, etc.
  • Protects patients rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information at all times and in accordance with HIPPA regulations.
  • Escalate issues to manager that delay timely release of records.
  • Assist in other front office duties as assigned.
  • Assist clients with completing a release of information and processing their request

 

 

 
Position Requirements
