The Impact You'll Have:

As our Construction Services Group Manager, you will manage a growing group of construction managers and inspectors to deliver construction projects that help build better communities. The Group Manager will provide routine guidance to staff on smaller projects and serve as a construction manager on higher profile or larger scale projects. Problem solving and developing a strong rapport with contractors, client representatives, and utility owners are keys to success in this role. You will develop your team and mentor graduate engineers, construction managers, inspectors and interns. This position will also facilitate design review and collaboration between Alliant design engineers and the construction services group to ensure our plans are constructable and cost-effective. A successful group manager will be forward-thinking and entrepreneurial, with a drive to see the group grow and succeed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and oversight of a work group consisting of construction managers, construction inspectors, graduate inspectors, and graduate engineers, with varying levels of construction project experience.
  • Responsible for seeking out opportunities and marketing clients to grow Alliant's Construction Services group.
  • Leads efforts in training of technical and professional staff, through both internal and external training initiatives.
  • Leads the development of project proposals and responds to construction-specific Requests for Proposals (RFP's), including working with project partners and other consultants to develop partnership opportunities and staff augmentation plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Maintains a Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (for candidates with Engineering degree).
  • Maintains Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification (for candidates with a Construction Management degree).
  • 10+ years experience in a similar construction management capacity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality work on schedule
  • History of establishing and fostering strong client relationships
  • Experience writing proposals
