Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a to 4:30p. Includes some nights and 1 weekend every two months
Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) provides comprehensive community based treatment services to persons with severe and persistent mental illness in Hampton or Newport News who have been unable to make use of traditional outpatient mental health services.
The Employment Counselor assesses client vocational skills, develops vocational placement opportunities, provides training instructions and counseling, and/or supervises psychiatrically disabled persons in connection with employment/vocational assignments. The Employment Counselor manages a caseload, supportive counseling, and on-the-job training supervision.

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Services (Social Work, Psychology or Counseling) and one (1) year case management and vocational training experience with adults with mental health and co-occurring disorders. Master's Degree preferred. Must be registered with the Board of Counseling to practice as a QMHP-A or register with the Board of Counseling to practice as a QMHP-A trainee within the first 30 days of employment.
Valid Virginia Driver's License. Please submit your Department of Motor Vehicle driving record current within the last 60 days.
The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
