Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders. 

The Service Members, Veterans and Families (SMVF) Coordinator serves as the point of contact and community liaison for Veterans Clinical Services at the H-NNCSB. Incumbent provides outpatient therapy and care coordination services to SMVF (Service Members, Veterans, and Families) clients with complex needs. This position will specialize in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other forms of trauma related to military and/orcombat service including Military Sexual Assault, and Substance Use Disorders.

The SMVF Coordinator manages a caseload of SMVF clients with mental illness and/or co-occurring substance related disorders in an outpatient setting. The primary purpose of this position is to provide treatment services in a timely manner to a case load of SMVF clients with complex needs. Work involves assessment and evaluation of incoming clients and ongoing therapy as well as resource linkage and supportive services for the SMVF population with service-related needs who are affected by trauma and/or substance use. Position involves decision making and application of complex theoretical approaches to individual, group and family therapy, and educational sessions as well as linkage to Veterans Administrations’ services and additional community resources. Coordinator will provide advocacy, outreach, education, and marketing of SMVF services. Coordinator will maintain positive relationships with the Veterans Administration and community providers.

Requirements: LPC, LCSW or LMFT licensed professional (LCSW preferred) with two (2) years clinical experience including therapeutic counseling, crisis intervention and case management functions working with the SMVF population. Knowledge of military culture. Must be eligible or approved for MCO credentialing. 

The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
